Spies, villains, high speed chases and daring escapes feature at the heart of Banbury Cross Players’ exhilarating stage production of The 39 Steps.
This spoof interpretation of John Buchan’s novel also promises laughs-a-plenty as it intertwines the action-packed adventure with farcical situations
The Cross Players’ have made some innovative twists to the much-loved show, such as integrating references to Alfred Hitchcock, who directed the 1935 film adaptation.
The production team have also faced a number of creative challenges along the way, including manufacturing a set of bagpipes and filming sessions with local model aeroplane enthusiasts.
And with the cast of four playing a whole multitude of characters, the wardrobe team has had its work cut out gathering together such an array of costumes.
Director Chrissie Garrett said: ‘Working with such talented and supportive people on this show is great. I hope our audience has as much fun watching as I have had producing.”
The 39 Steps runs from April 22-25 at the Mill Arts Centre. Tickets are £12 (£11 concessions) available from www.themillartscentre.co.uk and 01295 279002.
