The now former Banbury MP Sir Tony Baldry got on his bike at the town’s TSB branch last Friday to raise funds for Katharine House Hospice.
The building society asked members of the public to vote for which charity staff should raise money for over the year, and six members of staff as well as Sir Tony each cycled at least the equivalent of the return distance between the High Street branch and the hospice in Adderbury.
The day raised more than £500 and branch manager Gareth Nichols was delighted. He said: “We managed 122 miles, which is about 16-and-a-half times there and back between the hospice and the branch. We were chuffed with the amount raised as we set of target of £500 for the entire year.”
