A public servant who has been responsible for organising countless community events and looking after 24 town mayors has retired after more than 23 years.
Tricia Campbell, became secretary to Banbury’s Charter Trustees in 1992.
In 2000, Tricia became the Banbury Town Council’s civic officer, organising events such as Remembrance Sunday, Battle of Britain Day, Organ Festival, Armed Forces Day, Town Mayor’s Sunday, Christmas Bazaar, Christmas Concert, the mayor’s toy appeal and the popular Canal Day.
In January, she was awarded the BEM in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, for services to local government.
Mayor Tony Mepham said: “Tricia will be missed. She has been the inspiration behind so many mayors. She has done all the administration work, liaised with charities, community groups and others, and upheld the civic traditions of Banbury. Her enthusiasm for the job has never waned.”
