Rail passengers are facing delays at Banbury station this morning following a major signalling problem on the line.
All trains between London and Banbury were cancelled this morning due to the fault on the line. The line has since reopened but delays remain.
Chiltern Railways issued a statement just after 6am saying: “Due to a major signalling problem, we are currently not running trains between London and Banbury and on the Met line. While engineers work to resolve this, Chiltern Railways tickets will be valid on Virgin Trains, First Great Western, London Midland and London Underground until further notice.”
Just after 6.30am the line had reopened but delays and cancellations remain until services return to normal.
Via its official Twitter feed @chilternrailway said: “UPDATE: The fault has been fixed and the first trains are now running. There will be delays/cancellations as services return to normal.”
