Thankfully, there are few major roadworks planned over the bank holiday weekend across the Banbury area.

However, there is one site that may catch a few people out.

Works are listed for the junction of the B4100 and Dassett Road leading up to Burton Dassett Hills for all three days of the long weekend.

A section of Dassett Road is set to be closed, and there will be traffic lights and a lower speed limit on the B4100.

To reach Burton Dassett Hills from the B4100 the official diversion is to head via Avon Dassett, Fenny Compton and then turn to head to Northend.

Also this weekend are roadworks on the A422 between Banbury and Brackley. Drivers may face temporary traffic lights, and the road may also be closed - but only when sign posted by contractors. A diversion route is via the B4525 joining the A43 near Syresham.

Drivers can also expect ongoing roadworks on many minor roads along the route of the HS2 rail line.

Delays are 'possible' along the M40 south of Banbury where the hard shoulder and one lane will be closed on both sides until the Bicester junction . Further afield, two lanes of the northbound M40 will be closed between junctions 4 and 5 - here delays are described as 'likely'

Road closures on Bankside in Banbury are listed over the weekend.

The end of Ruscote Avenue at the junction with Warwick Road is also included in the list for the weekend due to works by Western Power Distribution.

A short stretch of Beargarden Road is listed as being closed for works by Thames Water but that is set to be reopened by the end of Friday.
