Cllr Mark Cherry, who represents the Banbury Ruscote area for Oxfordshire County, Cherwell District and Banbury Town councils, reached out to the Banbury Guardian to let the public know about the upcoming road repairs in town.

He said: "After two half years of lobbying the highways officers and relevant cabinet member at county hall the works on The Fairway from junctions Prescott Avenue to Mold Crescent will commence from 3rd of August."

A spokesperson with Oxfordshire County Council said the road repairs involve road patching and kerb repairs on The Fairway, Banbury between Woodgreen Avenue roundabout and Prescott Avenue.

The kerbing work is planned to start during the day on Monday July 27 for five days between 9am and 4pm using temporary traffic lights.

The road patching repairs will start on the night of Monday August 3, and will involve a road closure from 8pm until 6am, and may take up to 10 working days to complete.

The night-time road closure for the patching works is required on health and safety grounds to protect the workforce and enable the use of some large road maintenance vehicles.

A letter was sent out yesterday, Tuesday July 21, to residents with more information about the upcoming road repairs in town.

Cllr Cherry added: "Of course getting works like this moved forward in future is going to problematic due to the budgetary pressures related to the fact that central government is not going to fully reimburse councils like Oxfordshire County Council due to past and ongoing work during the Covid-19 virus pandemic."
