Rebecca Wyatt was concerned the overgrown shrub on Edward Street in Grimsbury was causing a potential risk to safety as many Dashwood Academy students use the street to get to school.

Rebecca, a mother of a student at the school, says that many parents and the school itself have been reporting the issue to the council through the website FixMyStreet for over a year.

However, her reports had seemingly fallen on deaf ears until she contacted Banbury Grimsbury and Hightown councillor Sean Woodcock.

Rebecca said: “For months, reports have been made to FixMyStreet with children needing to walk on the road and wheelchair users unable to use the path. We were frustrated at the lack of urgency to provide a solution.

"It’s been really stressing me out as I see so many children walking in the road on the corner and almost being hit by cars, including my own son.”

"I contacted Sean Woodcock, and he advised that I should leave it with him, and within 24 hours, the hedges were cut back. Sean saw the urgency of the situation, and I’m so grateful he acted as quickly as he did.”

Cllr Sean Woodcock said: “I'm just pleased that this issue was resolved. My colleagues and I take our responsibilities as councillors extremely seriously.

“It's why we spend time every week knocking on residents doors. We're here to serve.”
