Tractors prepare to light up the streets of Banburyshire

It’s nearly time for the most talked about Christmas spectacle as Barford St Michael's RC Baker Ltd will once again light up the streets with a fairy lit convoy of tractors

In just four years the annual event has become an eargerly antcipated as dozens of heavy machinery don their finest Christmas decor raising funds for The Katharine House Hospice.on

The inaugural event in 2016 featured twenty-six tractors which has since steadily grown in numbers each year reaching seventy-nine tractors taking part in 2018 thanks to the continued support from the farming community who travel far and wide to take part.

Jennie Steenkamp, commercial manager and director for RC Baker and the driving force behind the events creation, said: "Last year we reached an all-time high with seventy-nine tractors which was an amazing sight.

"There is already so much excitement surrounding this year’s event on social media so the pressure is on to see if we can top last year’s figures and put on the best festive display for the public."

The event has so far raised over £11,000 in total for Katharine House Hospice thanks to the generosity of the public, support of local businesses such as Banbury Co-operative Funeralcare and help from volunteers.

RC Baker Ltd are encouraging all local farmers and owners of tractors to take part in this year’s tractor run for just £15 per tractor.

If you would like to catch a glimpse of the festive fleet it will depart from Spring Hill Farm in Barford St Michael at 5pm on December 19 and will travel through South Newington, Milcombe, Bloxham, Milton, Adderbury, Deddington, Hempton and back through Barford St Michael.,

RC Baker Ltd also invite you to come and see the fairy-lit fleet after their tour from 6.30pm at Spring Hill Farm for a drink and a mince pie.

This year, RC Baker Ltd will once again be auctioning off a passenger seat in one of their festive fleet tractors to the highest bidder with funds raised going to Katharine House Hospice.
