Top cyclists set to race through Banburyshire for Tour of Britain
The Tour of Britain will be taking in much of south Warwickshire during its fourth stage, with Edgehill and Burton Dassett among the challenges for the riders.
Current Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas will be riding for Team Sky, along with four-time Tour winner, Chris Froome.

Hide AdThomas said: “As soon as I’d finished the Tour I knew I wanted to ride the Tour of Britain and race on home roads.
“It starts in Wales which will be special, and then I get to go and race across the whole of the UK. I can’t wait.”
The stage starts in Nuneaton and heads south through Warwick, Ilmington, Shipston, Kineton, Fenny Compton and finishes in Leamington Spa.
Warwickshire Police is urging local residents to be aware of road closures and plan their journeys.

Hide AdThere will be road closures in place throughout the day in Nuneaton and Leamington.
There will then be rolling road closures in place across the county to allow the race to pass through.
Chief Inspector Neil Harrison said: “Following the success of the women’s tour in Warwickshire over the past couple of years we’re delighted to welcome the men’s tour this year.
“It will be fantastic to see some of the world’s top cyclists battling it out on the streets of the county.

Hide Ad“To allow the race to pass through there will be rolling road closures in place throughout the day as well as closures in place in Nuneaton and Leamington to allow the race to start and finish.
“While everything will be done to keep disruption to a minimum I would urge people to plan their journeys carefully.”
