Time for some stories and fun at museum's big Bash

Younger visitors will be able to enjoy an array of craft activities in the museum’s Crafty Corner, or have their face painted inspired by tales from the Treasures Gallery, before settling down to one of the four story telling performances by Katrice Horsley, national storytelling laureate.

This year sees the launch of the Story Bash Competition where two local schools, Hardwick Primary and Hill View Primary, were inspired to create their own stories. More than 150 ‘Once upon a time in Banbury’ stories were entered in to the competition and the two winners will be announced and their story performed by Katrice on the day.

The museum is also collaborating with The Mill Arts Centre again with craft activity stemming from their winter production of Cinderella and the Glass Slipper making magical fairy tale castles, turrets and towers. As always you will also see and hear from Colonel Robert Hammond’s, Regimant of Foote Cittie of London Brigade of The Sealed Knot with English Civil War displays filling the Waterways Gallery. A pop up cinema will appear in the afternoon showing the best of Banbury and a sneak preview of pathé surprises.

Visitors will be able to take a seat in a specially constructed vintage sitting room and listen to inspirational stories of ‘Times Gone By’ from local Banbury and Kidlington residents.
