Chipping Norton Theatre has received a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence award after a torrent of visitors took to the ratings website to back the venue.

The accreditation, now in its fifth year, is handed out to outstanding businesses and venues who go above and beyond to give great service to customers.

Jo Ludford, general manager, said staff were delighted by the result for what she firmly believes is “Britain’s cuddliest theatre”.

“I would like to thank all our volunteer ushers, bar star and duty managers- they deserve this recognition of their hard work.”

The accolade will be a boost for staff as they wind down their programme of productions and prepare for an action-packed summer of youth-orientated workshops.

Tomorrow (Friday), the award winning show No Frills Flamenco will be performed at the theatre at 7.45pm, presented by Dot Dot Dot Dance company.

Members of the company will also run a taster workshop tomorrow afternoon for anyone wishing to have a go at developing their dancing skills.

For people who love first class theatre but don’t fancy travelling to the West End, there is the chance to watch a live broadcast of Everyman on Thursday, July 16 at 7pm.

The production starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) will be filmed and streamed live from the National Theatre to screens in selected arts venues across the UK.

On Friday July 17 there will also be the opportunity to see some live theatre performed on the Chipping Norton stage.

Musical comedy The End is Nigh is an Edinburgh Fringe preview, starring Jonny & the Baptists who are best known for their appearances on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show.

Film buffs can indulge in a whole host of contemporary movie screenings in the coming weeks, including Spooks: The Greater Good and Hollywood comedy caper Spy.

Finally, the summer period sees plenty of theatrical shows and performing arts workshops taking place to keep youngsters entertained over the holidays.
