The good readers of the Banbury Guardian have spoken - and they have chosen the New Inn in Middleton Cheney as their favourite bar of 2014.

We asked readers to help us find Banburyshire’s top bar and are happy to reveal the New Inn in Main Road as the overall winner.

Joint pub manager Robert South was delighted to hear the good news.

He said: “It feels absolutely fantastic – we’re over the moon. It means a lot to us and we can’t wait to bring on an even better 2015.”

He added one of the reasons behind the pub’s popularity is the selection of real ales on offer. As part of the Finest Cask programme the pub regularly features guest ales and also gives customers the opportunity to have their say. He added: “I’d like to thank all the people who have voted for us and all our customers who have supported us throughout the year.”

John Milgate and January Wynne only took on the pub in September 2013. January said: “We’re really pleased and want to say thank you to everyone. We’ve only been here for just over a year and this is reinforcing that we’re doing a good job, but we’re now going to work even harder to try to get it again next year!”
