The tranquil setting of Broughton Castle will be the scene of this year’s Cycling Sportivate as it prepares for its third event.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Banbury Cherwell and in conjunction with Banbury Star Cyclists Club, it will offer various cycling routes for enthusiasts young and old on Sunday, July 12 from 7am.
There will be a choice of four routes through the Cotswold countryside, ranging from a ‘family fun’ ride of 10km to ‘The Monster’ at 100 miles which takes in several classic climbs including Nebsworth Lane and Snowshill.
Parking is free in the castle grounds, and there will be well-stocked feed stations run by the Inner Wheel Club and Rotoract members.
Cyclists who complete either the 100-mile, 50-mile or 20-mile routes will get a medal and free burger and there will be a barbeue and children’s entertainment in the grounds.
