A Sibford School pupil has been selected to take part in the RFU’s South West Junior Academy programme.
Fifteen-year-old Amy Bothwell was chosen from a pool of 80 other girls vying for the place who had been put forward by counties within the South West Division, including Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall,
Amy travelled to Bovington, Wareham, to attended her first junior academy training camp on February 18 and is due to compete in her first match for the academy in April when she will face Birmingham Exiles.
Amy’s mum Emma said: “This is the next step up from playing county rugby and offers the chance for Amy to become involved in divisional rugby representing the South West.”
Sibford School head, Toby Spence, said: “We are delighted that Amy has been selected for this opportunity and wish her all the very best.”
