Talented young people show off their new Song Unite documentary

The community interest company works with young people and adults who have learning Difficulties, disabilities and special educational needs and helps them create, write and record their own songs and TV programmes.

At Frank Wise School’s i-Wise Centre, the young people were also joined by Telstar drummer and Song Unite patron Clem Cattini, Frank Wise headteacher Sean O’Sullivan and liasion officer Natalie Dayer.

Chris Beck, artistic director at Song Unite said: “It was lovely to see the young people and their families. We were also delighted that Mike Martin representing the Grand Order Of Water Rats, who together with Steve Redfearn of Rockhopper Studios, funded the whole television production project and Documentary.

“It was quite an event and proceeding ended with a rousing rendition of a song written and sung by one of the students, Simeon Goss with everyone joining in.

“We are so happy that Clem Cattini joined the students for a whole day and features in the documentary.”

The documentary forms part of the young people’s Television Production Project and it will be broadcast on the Community Channel (channel 63) on Wednesday, March 9 at 10.30pm and then repeated on Thursday, March 24 at 9pm.

Apart from working with children and young people, Song Unite are also planning a song recording Project for Parents and Carers.
