Students at Chipping Norton School have been showing off their artistic and design talents at their Art, Design and Technology Exhibition.
A team from Owen Mumford Ltd were invited to the event, and have generously sponsored the school’s new laser cutter machine which along with their 3D printer, has proved invaluable to the school’s aim to help its pupils acquire excellent design and technology skills.
Simon Crudge, head of DT, said: “We have only had it a couple of months but it has been used every day and was a benefit to so many students in the last weeks of their coursework. The laser cutter will also enable us to introduce new projects at both Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
“In September we are looking forward to discussing tour next project ideas with Owen Mumford and these are exciting times for the Department and the students at Chipping Norton School.
Many students and parents attended the event, which included works of artwork, woodwork, textiles and graphic design.
Modestino Graziano, group operation director of Owen Mumford Ltd, also unveiled a plaque marking a new direct partnership between the school and business.
It will see key personnel from the firm regularly coming into the school to talk to and mentor students.
Mr Graziano said: “As a successful Oxfordshire business, we are delighted to support young people’s education at schools in towns where we are based and our strong relationship with Chipping Norton School is one of which we are very proud.
“Sponsoring the new laser cutter is an exciting way that we can support and encourage technology in education and we know that such hi-tech equipment is an important learning resource for staff and students alike.”
