The opening was carried out by Chairman of Cherwell District Council Cllr Chris Heath and project managers John Corden and Nathan Wallis.

Mr Corden said: “We’ve been open four years. We had this little unit first. Then Amber Lamps left and we took over this building about three months ago. Today is our official opening,”

The charity works with adult volunteers with learning disabilities, teaching new skills and promoting independence.

Mr Corden said: “We don’t employ anyone. We have 20 or so, probably 25 either people from day services or volunteers. We have some interns from Oxford Employment Service as well.

A coffee bar welcomes visitors and a vast array of bespoke and unusual furniture and trinkets beckons you further into the new, roomy store.

The furniture comes from a variety of sources and is restored on site.

Mr Corden said: “Some of it is donated, a lot of it is bought, so we take some donations. What we are after is solid wood, because we sell decent solid wood furniture.”

The shop opens Monday to Friday 9.30am until 5pm and 10am until 4pm on weekends at Unit 18/19 Beaumont Close, Beaumont Industrial Estate.
