Banbury & District Samaritans are holding an Information Evening at their branch at 33 Albert Street on Thursday, April 28, from 7pm to 9pm.

Samaritans volunteers provide a listening ear round the clock so people in distress can telephone someone in confidence day or night.

Karen, an office manager, who has volunteered at the Banbury branch for three years, said: “Finding out about volunteering with Samaritans is one of the best things I’ve done. You’re all part of a team and the training is thorough and really interesting. We have a mentor and ongoing training.

“For me, it’s been an opportunity for personal development too. You discover things about yourself as well as gaining new skills. I feel I get just as much out of my volunteering with Samaritans as I put in.”

To book a place at the information evening, email Ruth at banbury@samaritans.org or call 07473 581379.
