A good Samaritan who has lent a listening ear for 40 years has been made an honorary member of Banbury & District Samaritans.
Joan Noble’s 40 years of service were celebrated at the AGM on May 19, when she was presented with a Claire Squires Award, a Samaritans rose and gift vouchers.
Joan, who has now retired from listening duties said “I am overwhelmed to receive all this attention.
“I have loved working for Samaritans and have made so many lifelong friends.
“I’m really pleased that I am still able to be part of a branch and an organisation which means so much to me.”
Director Davina Birkbeck said: “Joan has been an inspiration to so many volunteers, and helped so many callers through difficult times.
“We will miss her very much. However, we are delighted to have made her an honorary member of the branch, which means that we won’t lose touch.”
