A local horsewoman has qualified to compete at the finals of the prestigious Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).

Emma Wilson, aged 33, from Shipston on Stour, won the Working Hunter class at the SEIB Insurance Brokers Search for a Star 2016 qualifier, held in Somerset.

Riding Louise Halsall’s Geoffrey, Emma bested a competitive division to gain qualification for HOYS.

Five-year-old rose grey gelding Geoffrey, was bought from Ireland in December, having previously hunted.

Emma, who works as a hunter groom for Louise, said: “He’s the perfect ladies’ hunter. Louise brings horses from Ireland to sell on as hunters, but we decided to keep Geoffrey, as he’s so beautiful.”

The SEIB Search for a Star series has been created to give amateur riders the chance to compete at the HOYS finals.

The Horse of The Year Show takes place from October 5 to 9 at the Birmingham NEC.
