Banbury will be transformed into a hub of science fiction as it hosts its first ever comic con on Saturday in Castle Quay Shopping Centre.
In a joint project with Banbury Presents, supported by Glyn Smith of Comic Connections, the event will feature five of the original Bounty Hunters from the Star Wars franchise who will be doing question and answer sessions about their careers working on the films.
Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Paul Blake (Greedo), Cathy Monroe (Zuckuss), Alan Harris (Bossk) and Chris Parsons (4-LOM) will all make an appearance.
Also coming to Banbury will be John Wagner, co-creator of Judge Dredd, Australian actress Virginia Hey, who played Pa’u Zoton Zhaan in Farscape and British comic book writer Jamie Delano, the first writer of the series Hellblazer.
From 9am onwards there will be a multi-venue programme including outdoor processional and performances from the team of Stormtroopers, martial artists, stunt people, Knights and Fights.
The evening event showcases a come-in-costume Cosplay Competition event, featuring full bar, food and music, gaming, and cartooning at Also Known As in Parsons Street from 9pm-1am, with a super-heroes after-party from 1am until 3am at Rock The Atic in Butcher’s Row.
Special signings and a back catalogue will also be at Comic Connections in Parons Street during the day.
n BYHP will host its own games night at its base in Chandos Close on Saturday evening from 6.30pm-9.30pm. There will be a Wii Mario Kart tournament and entry costs £2.50.
