Pupils' art goes into space

Their art will be loaded onto a computer chip aboard the Spacecraft OSIRIS-REx which will be launched from Cape Canaveral in September and fly for three years to the Asteroid Bennu, where the chip will remain for thousands of years.

ScienceClubz Ltd, who run the Bishop Carpenter School science club, made a short film of the children’s art and voices, which it submitted this week to the NASA programme.

ScienceClubz MD Sue Priest said: “When I received a tweet back from the OSIRIS‐REx twitter account I knew we’d made it. I am thrilled.”

The official deadline is March 20, and once the chip is full no more submissions will be included.
