The 28-year-old striker joined Bath this season from Hereford, where he bagged 140 goals. Mills made 14 appearances for Bath this season, ten of them coming on as a substitute, scoring two goals.

He was in the Romans starting line-up that beat United at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium in the second qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

United manager Mike Ford said: “The current group of players have given us a good start to the season but I felt that the time was right to introduce some freshness to the squad.

“When John became available it was a no-brainer to bring in a player of his pedigree. I believe he will boost our goals coring capabilities, make our existing players better and help us compete at the top end of the table.”

The loan period will run up to early January. Provided there are no problems with the submission of league and loan registration forms to the relevant authorities on Friday, Mills will be available for Saturday’s game at Biggleswade Town.
