A pre-school which was facing closure only a few short months ago has celebrated a positive Ofsted report.

Charlton Playgroup opened in 1967 and in September started talks with Newbottle and Charlton Primary School in a bid to stay open. A partnership was agreed and the pre-school renamed itself Newbottle and Charlton Pre-School.

Ofsted carried out an inspection in February with the school receiving a ‘good’ grade. The pre-school has employ-ed two new staff members and has been working with the school’s reception teacher, Mary Sharp, and headteacher, Sarah Smith, to provide new experiences for pupils and exchange ideas.
