In a timely move ahead of May’s general election, one of the foremost experts on the state of the NHS is heading to the area to talk about ‘Games to play with your Doctor’.
Dr Phil Hammond has made his mark by highlighting what’s really going on in the health service, often exposing issues the politicians probably didn’t want put in the spotlight.
His latest take on the state of play will be presented at The Theatre, Chipping Norton on Saturday, March 28 and follows a sell-out performance at the same venue in 2012.
The publicity for this latest appearance shows he’s lost none of his bite: “Politicians lie to us. The NHS is for sale. Patients are the only people left who can save the NHS.
“Dr Phil takes you on an incredible journey into the Heath Robinson monster of the NHS ‘reforms’, where lurks the Laminate of Lansley, the Trojan Horse of Privatization and the Big Red Ball of Blame.
“Is the NHS being asset-stripped and dismantled? Or would you prefer to have your prostate screening in Primark? It’s your NHS. You decide. But see this seriously funny show first.”
He is a GP turned hospital doctor, who has now also made his mark as a writer, broadcaster and comedian.
He has been Private Eye’s medical correspondent for more than 20 years and has appeared on Have I Got News for You, The News Quiz, The Now Show, The One Show and Countdown.
A spokesman added: “With a lot of humour and not too much ranting, Dr Phil will wake you up and show you how, through a series of games, you can do your bit to win the war.”
