Police release CCTV images of two people after Banbury purse theft

Banbury police have released the CCTV images of two women they wish to speak to after a pensioner has her purse taken.

At around 11.13am on Friday November 18, a 95-year-old woman was in Nilay’s newsagents in Banbury High Street, when she was approached by two women.

One of the women bent down and took the pensioner’s purse from her handbag which was hanging over her walking frame.

The second woman was stood blocking the first offender as she bent down to grab the purse.

The purse stolen during this incident contained bank cards and cash.

Investigating officer PC Samanta Dean, based at Banbury police station, said: “I believe that the people pictured in these images could have information which is vital to our investigation, so I would like to appeal to them, or anyone who knows them, to come forward and contact Thames Valley Police.”
