Police officer sacked after twice indecently assaulting colleague while off duty
Thames Valley Police has dismissed a serving police officer for gross misconduct after a hearing.
DS Brashaw was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour for Authority, Respect and Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct contrary to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2012, by indecently assaulting a colleague.
The misconduct hearing lasted nearly a week, commencing last Wednesday September 2 and concluding yesterday (Tuesday).
The dismissal follows an investigation by the force into reports that he indecently assaulted a colleague on two separate occasions while off duty; the first in July 2013 and the second in January 2014.
The matter was referred to the CPS but no criminal charges were brought. However Thames Valley Police decided to bring internal misconduct proceedings.

Detective Chief Superintendent, Tim De Meyer, said DS Brashaw abused his position of power over his colleague and hopes the dismissal sends out a strong message.
He said: “This was a particularly concerning case involving an indecent assault by a supervising officer.
“The allegation was dealt with by our Professional Standards Department and the thoroughness of the investigation demonstrates our determination to deal with gross misconduct such as this.
“Cases of this nature are extremely rare, however the outcome sends a strong message to officers as to the consequences of this behaviour and to the public that TVP will deal with such matters robustly. I am very grateful to the victim and witnesses in this case who showed great character throughout.”
