Police officers in Shipston-on-Stour are asking for help in locating a 28-year-old man after a burglary in St Edmunds’s Church.

The church on Church Road was broken into on November 28 and significant damage was caused to historical areas in order to steal silverware.

Adam Kupka, who lives in the Oxford area, has been identified as a suspect and is wanted by police for questioning.

PC Craig Purcell of the neighbourhood team in Shipston, said: “Following a search of Shipston Town officers located a number of pieces of the silverware hidden under the rear wheel arch of a vehicle but many items remain outstanding.

“This crime has hit at the heart of the local Community and support for St. Edmunds was immediate. Significant work has been completed during the Police investigation but efforts to locate Adam Kupka in Oxfordshire have so far failed.

“I now need help from the Community and ask that you please share this appeal so we can try to conclude this investigation in time for the New Year.”
