Police issue safety advice after vehicles targeted across Banbury

Over the last couple of months a number of vehicles have been targeted across these areas.

Between January 2 and February 29 a total of 20 vehicles have been broken into in the area. Ten vans have had tools stolen from inside, six cars have had taxi plates or number plates stolen, a motorcycle had its tank drained of fuel and two other cars had items stolen, including a sat nav from the glovebox.

Investigating officer, PC Ali Robinson from Banbury Police Station, said: “We are really keen to bring the people responsible for these crimes to justice, therefore if anyone has any information please call police on 101.

“Remember to do what you can in order to prevent thefts from your own vehicles, Remember to lock your vehicles and do not leave anything on display.”

Police have given the following advice to ensure those in the targeted areas are not a victim of crime:

Remove tools and valuables from vehicles over night.

Security mark tools, either with a permanent marker pen or by engraving them with details of your company name and postcode.

Secure your vehicle when leaving it.

Park in a well lit area

If possible park where there is CCTV.
