Police appeal after man was robbed in Banbury

A 32-year-old man was knocked unconscious and robbed while walking in Banbury on Sunday night.

It happened at about 7pm when the victim was walking along the canal towpath behind Castle Quay car park and noticed three men drinking lager by a bench. He continued walking and near the skate park ramps in Spiceball Park, he was struck from behind on the head which knocked him to the floor.

He then recieved another blow, possibly a kick, to his face and lost consciousness. His driving licence, debit cards and cash was stolen.

When regained consciousness, he began to make his way to Banbury Police Station. He was found on the way by a member of the public who called for an ambulance.

He was treated at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury for minor cuts to his face and a swollen cheek.
