A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he was assaulted while camping in Banbury.

The victim was in fields behind Thornbury Rise at about 11.50pm on Monday, July 20 when he heard noise outside his tent.

When he went out he felt a sharp pain in his finger after hearing what sounded like a paintball gun being fired.

The victim was taken to Banbury’s Horton General Hospital.

PC Tony Francis, investigating officer based at Banbury Police Station, said: “This appears to be an isolated incident, but we are appealing for any information.
