Banbury Cross Players are looking for special talent to join them on a thrillingly dark adventure this summer.

Open auditions will be held on Thursday (April 9) for the group’s new production of Dracula, which is due to be performed in July.

Their stylish interpretation of Bram Stoker’s classic Gothic novel will work with a script adaptation by Jane Thornton and John Godber.

The strange and suspense-filled tale opens with a young woman sleepwalking along the edge of a cliff during a sudden, mysterious storm.

Amidst the thunder and crashing waves, a ship blasts its way through the harbour entrance, announcing the arrival of the feared and forboding Count Dracula.

Sustaining his immortality by drinking the blood of the living, he begins to pursue his victims along the English coast with brutally devastating effects.

It is then left to notorious vampire slayer Renfield Van Helsing to try to end Dracula’s reign of terror before it proves too late.

The open auditions will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 8pm at The Mill Arts Centre.

The actors will most likely play multiple roles, with the characters being paired up as follows: Count Dracula/Renfield Van Helsing, Lucy Westenra Harker/Holmwoord and Dr Seward/Mina Harker.

However, it is possible that these roles could be split among a larger cast, so anybody interested should come along, even if they would rather play a single role.

Performance dates are July 15-18 and successful auditionees will need to be available from Sunday, July 12 for technical and dress rehearsals.

Further information and audition pieces are available by contacting the show’s director Linda Shaw, on 07802 301726 or
