The car transporter full of Mercedes slid off the road in icy conditions and into a hedge at around 2.05pm on the A361 near Charwelton.

The lorry, which became stuck, was blocking most of the road which forced police to close the A361 from the Charwelton crossroads to the mini-roundabout in Byfield.

A recovery vehicle arrived on the scene at around 3.50pm and at 6.40pm the lorry had been removed from the ditch.

New wheels were put on the vehicle. The road was reopened just before 8pm.

There were no injures as a result of the crash.
