PICTURE GALLERY: Crowds brave the rain at Brackley Carnival

The event kicked off with a procession through the town centre, featuring marching bands, military vehicles, children and adults in fancy dress, Guides and Brownies, classic vehicles, and more.

The process ended at the carnival’s main site, at Magdalen College School St John’s site.

Mark Stopps, chairman of Team Carnival Brackley, said: “It was a little bit damp on Saturday!

“The carnival went as well as it could do, given the weather. We can organise a big event like this, but not the weather.

“I was pleasantly surprised by how many people came out to watch the procession and came through the gates as well.

“Hats off to the people of Brackley, the stallholders, volunteers and others who turned out despite the weather.

“Titan the Robot went down a storm, as did the dressage display, but we were really pleased with how everything went – other than the rain.

“We put on an event for brackley, which is what it’s all about.

“A big thank you to everybody that turned out, team carnival, and the helpers that made it happen. The carnival is run by a bunch of volunteers and we don’t receive any civic funds.

“We will be back next year, and hopefully with better weather!”
