Kevin Nicks and his 'Fastest Shed' visited residents and staff at Southerndown Care Home yesterday (Wednesday May 5).

A spokesperson for the care home said: "Kevin was absolutely lovely, taking time to speak with all our residents and confirming he built the shed back in 2015, and since its creation it has been used to break the Guinness world records ‘world land speed record for sheds’ three times!"

He explained how at the heart of the shed is a Volkswagen Passat with Quattro four-wheel drive, which Kevin refitted with a 450-horsepower V6 twin-turbo Audi RS4 engine.

The shed is totally road-worthy and Kevin always abides by the national speed limit on our roads... however, on a race track the shed has a top speed of 114mph!

Ela Solomon, general manager at the care home, said: “Our residents took it in turn to have a selfie with the shed, and we can’t thank Kevin enough for making our day so special.

"Our home offers a varied life enrichment programme that keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities. Kevin and his visiting shed certainly brightened their wet Wednesday.”
