Winners announced for Cartoonist of the Year competition hosted by Banbury area school

The winners have been announced for Bloxham School's Cartoonest of the Year competition.

Year four and five pupils were asked to submit original cartoons with the theme of 'Make Me Laugh'. The school received more than 70 entries, which were judged by Mr Matthew, director of art, and UK Young Cartoonist of the Year winner, Bloxham School student Daniel Meikle.

Mr Matthew said "The entries certainly made us laugh, and we were impressed by the quality of drawing and range of funny ideas on show."

Daniel and Mr Matthew chose a first, second and third place, with three entries Highly Commended and additional prizes for Technical Excellence and Funniest Joke. Certificates will be sent to the schools to be presented to the winning entries and celebrate their success.
