David’s Flowers has been trading from its spot outside Barclays Bank in Bridge Street for 30 years. The flower stall has become a delightful feature of the town centre with its beautiful displays of blooms and ready-made bouquets.

Flowers come from all parts of the world and David is up at 5am four times a week to scan the internet for the flowers he knows people will love.

“It’s a bit more technical now and since Covid we have been ordering our flowers through the internet. I have four deliveries of fresh flowers a week and they can come from as far away as Kenya and South Aftica via Holland and then on to us,” he said.

There is always a fantastic selection on the stall and David and his two florists, wife Ae and employee Paula Pledge are always happy to make up a decorative bunch to order.

The majority of sales are personal purchases at the stall but Davids also runs a reliable delivery service stretching across Banburyshire.

Things get festive from the beginning of December when shoppers choose holly wreaths, table decorations, door wreaths, sprays and crosses - many decorated in pine cones, red ribbons, gold foliage and all the colours of Christmas.

David’s Flowers is open up until 1.30pm on Christmas Eve. Christmas bouquets should be bought during the week before December 25 so they last over the Christmas period. Christmas bouquets cost from about £20 with a big presentation arrangement costing about £35 - 40. There are plenty of beautiful flowers at lower prices too.
