Kevin Ryan (62) was one of the South View neighbours scooping a prize. He said: "I’m honestly stunned. I cannot believe that. That is totally life changing!”

Kevin’s wife, Barbara, added: “It’s like a dream come true.

“We’ve never had money to spend, we’ve always had to save hard for it.”

Kevin plans to treat his family to a big holiday when he can, as well as make a donation to a local good cause.

He said: “I’d love to go back to Tenerife. I haven’t been there for three or four years. When we come out of this that’s the first thing we will do. I don’t care if it’s summer or winter!

“We’ve got plenty of grandchildren between us and it’s been hard not being able to see them all just now, especially over the Easter holidays, so it will be really good to get away.

“I said if I won over £10,000, I would give some of it to the local hospice, as you never know when you might need that. They’re a great cause and it won’t do us any harm to give them a donation.”

Kevin and Barbara plan to treat themselves to a slap-up meal at home to celebrate the win.

Kevin said: “It’s a shame we can’t go out to celebrate but there’s a bottle of champagne in the fridge somewhere, so we will have a glass of that.”

Barbara added: “I got two pieces of steak out of the freezer today when I found out you (People’s Postcode Lottery) were going to be calling!”

David Wright (62) and his wife Hazel were another couple who were delighted when they saw the amount on their cheque.

David said: “Wow! Fantastic! It’s a very good job I’m sat down. That’s going to make a lot of difference to a lot of people’s lives.”

When asked what they’d spend the money on, David commented: “We’ll be sharing it with the family. I’ve always wanted to take the grandkids to Kenya for a safari. We all need a bit of a treat.”

With David and Hazel unable to visit their friends and family at the moment, they’re looking forward to celebrating with them when they can.

David said: “When we do go and see them next, we will have a bigger smile on our faces than usual.”

In the meantime, the couple have a bottle of champagne they’ve been saving for a special occasion.

David said: “We’ve had a bottle of champagne in the fridge for ages, years and years actually. I don’t really like it that much to be honest!”

Hazel added, “I’ll have it all myself!”

Another £50k winner, Pauline Manley (59), was in shock when her cheque was revealed.

She said: “I wasn’t expecting anything like this. I have no words.”

As well as the win, Pauline and her husband have another reason to celebrate this weekend.

Pauline said: “It’s our anniversary today! Next year I turn 60 and it will be our 40th anniversary. My husband has been self-isolating so I’m hoping next year we can do something to celebrate it all.”

Retired Keith Mayoh (69), was holding back tears as he found out how much he had won.

He said: “Oh gosh, that is amazing. I just can’t believe it.

“My sister died 12 months yesterday. She’s definitely looking down on us.

“The last thing I won was a car when I was 17 in ’67. I won it on a competition on the Daily Mail when I’d just passed my test. I’ve never won anything since.”

Keith plans to treat his family with his winnings: “My daughter will be shocked. She will get some new table and chairs out of it! I can get my driveway done now. I was going to do it myself, but I can sit back and get someone else to do it now.

“I’ll go on holiday when all of this is over with. My daughter lives in Philadelphia so next year my wife and I can go over to visit with our other daughter and grandchildren.”

When asked how he would be celebrating, Keith said: “I have a bottle of Jack Daniels in the kitchen so that will be on the cards!

“It’s just out of this world to be honest with you.”

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Jeff Brazier, said: “I’m over the moon for all of our winners in Great Bourton! It’s unfortunate that I can’t visit them in person, but it’s great being able to do these video calls and see the joy on their faces when they find out how much they’ve won. It sounds like most of our winners will be celebrating with a bottle of bubbly so I’m sure they’ll have a fun weekend.”
