The gesture was organised by Royal Voluntary Service who run the Cornhill Centre and Cornhill Companions scheme, which provides practical and emotional support to vulnerable people in Banbury, Witney and the surrounding areas.

The Cornhill Centre, which closed its doors back in March, has maintained vital support to the many residents who usually pass through the doors for a dance class or meal at the café, by co-coordinating deliveries of food packs, groceries, prescriptions and also supporting via the telephone.

Avis Gallagher, volunteer coordinator for the Cornhill Companions said: “This has been a very difficult time for many of the residents we support and we know that they are experiencing growing feelings of isolation. We are unable to support in our usual way, but we hope that this special treat brought a little joy to their day.”
