The essentials of good quality bread, milk and newspapers are backed by beers wines and spirits, fresh fruit and vegetables, plenty of groceries – and the National Lottery.

The shop will open daily from 8am - 7pm and from 9am - 1pm on Sundays.

Mr Bansal said: "We want our customer service to be first class and as we build our range and get to know the villagers’ needs, we will try to order in everything people ask us to stock for the next day."

Villager Nick Fennell said: "It's great to have a village shop again. The message to residents is as simple as ever though - use it or lose it again."
