Traffic advisory helps Banbury area motorists travelling to Bicester or Oxford over the weekend

Highways England has advised people to plan-ahead if they intend to use the A34 or the M40 at junction 9 this weekend as the junction and all approach roads near Bicester will be closed overnight for resurfacing work.

Road users will also need to be aware that during the day on Saturday October 10 and Sunday October 11 (6am to 9pm both days) there will also be some lane closures in place on the roundabout and some approach roads.

The A41 southbound carriageway from the B4030 Vendee Drive/Bicester Park & Ride roundabout to the junction 9 roundabout and the M40 southbound entry slip road (London bound) will also remain closed throughout the weekend.

Daytime diversions and closures will include:

- Traffic on the A41 southbound carriageway for the M40 will be diverted from Bicester via the B4100 to Baynards Green, joining the M40 at junction 10

- For those wishing to access the A34, drivers will continue on the A43 to Ardley, and south on the B430 to join the A34 at Weston-on-the-Green

- Traffic will still be able to exit the M40 at junction 9 and join the M40 northbound carriageway; as well as travel north on the A41 to Bicester, both directions of the A34 will still be accessible.

- A34 northbound traffic wishing to access the M40 southbound carriageway will be diverted onto the M40 northbound and turned around at M40 junction 10.

The following diversions will be in place during nighttime closures:

- Motorway permitted traffic travelling between the A34 and M40 will be diverted along a diversion in both directions between the A44 Peartree Interchange and junction 8a of the M40 via the A40

- Non-motorway traffic travelling between the A34 and the A41 will be diverted along a diversion in both directions between the A44 Peartree Interchange and Bicester via Kidlington (Bicester Road), the A34 Weston-on-the-Green junction, the B430, A43 Baynards Green, and the B4100

- M40 traffic for the A41 will be diverted to exit the M40 at junction 10, follow the A43 to Baynards Green, then south along the B4100 to Bicester

- A41/Bicester traffic for the M40 will be diverted from Bicester via the B4100 to Baynards Green, then join the M40 at junction 10

- A41/Bicester traffic for the A34 southbound will be diverted from Bicester via the B4100 to Baynards Green, then along the A43 across junction 10 to Ardley, then south on the B430 to join the A34 at Weston-on-the-Green
