Three fire crews respond to sheds and outbuildings on fire near Adderbury

Firefighters with the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to calls of a number of sheds on fire on Friday September 11, near Adderbury.

Three crews, including the Banbury Fire Station, the Hook Norton Fire Station and the Kidlington Fire Station attended the fire.

Firefighters were called to a number of sheds and outbuildings on fire at a property at St Marys House, Oxford Rd, Adderbury around at 5:26pm on Friday September 11.

On arrival, crews were faced with flames and large amounts of smoke at the property.

An electricity pylon had become involved in the fire and was arcing out near to the building, which was isolated by colleagues from the electricity board.

Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus soon got the fire under control utilising water from a nearby swimming pool using a portable pump.

One female resident was taken to hospital by ambulance due to smoke inhalation.

The officer-in-charge at the incident, crew manager Dan Evans said: “This was a serious fire that due to the electricity pylon had the potential to be really dangerous. The crews were able to use a nearby swimming pool which provided us with a large volume of water to extinguish the fire with. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.”
