Possible traffic delays after launch of two roadworks projects in Banbury

Motorists travelling around Banbury should expect possible delays as two separate roadworks projects started today, Monday April 26.

One project started this morning as workers began construction of the installation of a new zebra crossing on the Broughton Road in the Queensway area of town.

The new pedestrian crossing and associated works are anticipated to be completed by Friday May 7. Works on the zebra crossing will occur from 7am until 7pm.

The temporarily road closure on Broughton Road is from between Woodgreen Avenue/Queensway and Hornbeam Close.

The only exemptions for motorists on the closed roadway include emergency vehicles and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via the A361, South Bar Street, A361, Bloxham Road, Queensway.

A second roadworks project started on the Oxford Road today, Monday April 26.

The closure of the Oxford Road is for a resurfacing project from Farmfield Road and out past Bodicote to the Twyford Road.

An Oxfordshire County Council spokesperson said the resurfacing project for Oxford Road will be completed today.
