Meet the firefighters: Who's who and why they serve at the Hook Norton Fire Station

The Hook Norton Fire Station recently launched a campaign on its Facebook to let the public know about the firefighters serving the Hook Norton village area.

Dan Weeks, the acting watch manager for the Hook Norton Fire Station, said: "The reason behind why we are running this is firstly to show locals who provides a service at their local station, but also to highlight that there is not one single type of person that makes a firefighter.

"It's about the love of the local community and giving back."

"We have a range of different primary employments amongst us and we welcome new applicants. If anyone is interested in joining we would say get in touch on our Facebook page. Leave their details and we will make contact and talk them through what it involves.

"Hook Norton forms part of the on-call side of Oxfordshire Fire Service. On-Call means the role of firefighter is not our primary employment and we respond via a pager 24 hours a day.

"Oxfordshire Fire Service welcomes new applicants from all parts of the community. If anyone is interested and lives within five minutes of their local fire station then they would urge them to get in touch. This can be with the station directly or through the application form process."
