Residents at Lake House Care Home and Day Centre in Adderbury, operated by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), got in the romantic spirit for Valentine’s Day enjoying a colourful cocktail party.

Each resident was presented with a voucher entitling them to a cocktail or mocktail of their choice and they were able to choose from such tipples as, ‘Sleep on the Beach’ and ‘Daria Daiquiri’, named after Lake House’s head of care, Daria Humphris.

The home was also able to grant resident Sylvia’s Valentine’s Day wish to have a date with her husband, Eric, one of Lake House’s volunteers.

Eric and Sylvia will be celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary in March and so the home is planning a very special date for the couple which will include an afternoon tea for two and a romantic film screening just for them.

Home manager Alexandra Grindle says: “The event was so special and we really did feel the love today at Lake House. Sylvia and Eric are very much looking forward to their date and we can’t wait to grant their Valentine’s wish on their anniversary in a couple of weeks.”

Residents also took part in Valentine’s themed games, cocktail mixing and contributed to the home’s ‘Love Tree’ where they each wrote the name of a loved one who they were thinking of on a heart-shaped decoration to adorn the tree.
