Lottery winner receives £2,088 cheque in time for a happy Christmas

Banbury United FC's successful lottery has given Peter Thompson a reason to smile this Christmas.

For Mr Thompson has an extra £2088 in his account to make this a merry Christmas for him and his family after he won the jackpot following several rollovers.

"The Friends of Banbury United Community Football Club were delighted to present a cheque of £2,088 to Peter after his win on Friday," said the club's lottery spokesman Mark Allitt.

"The jackpot had been building over recent weeks, due to consecutive rollovers and it was finally scooped by Mr Thompson. Banbury United was delighted to invite Peter, his wife and granddaughters as VIP guests at the recent home game verses Tamworth to receive his cheque."

"The Friends of Banbury United Community Football Club, who manage the lottery on behalf of the club, would like to thank everyone who participates in the the weekly draws. Since its inception, the lottery has raised over £2,000 for the Keep the Horton General Campaign and continues to fund the work of Banbury United's Community Development Officer, Ryan Jones."

SInce June, the £1-a-ticket lottery has paid out over £10,000 in prizes to lucky winners.
