A Banbury couple will be celebrating 60 years of marriage next week - and say they are still just as happy as when they met.

Peter and Janet Dowers got married at St Mary's Church in Banbury on September 3, 1960.

And Peter said he 'felt like he won the lottery' when he met Janet.

Their children said their parents are always laughing and joking around and are very happy.

The couple's first home was on Oxford Road, then they went to George Street, before moving into the family home in Fiennes Road.

They have three children (Susan, Graham and Gary), five grandchildren (Donna, Lee, Chad, Francesca and Connor) and six great grandchildren (Dylan, Daisy, Reece, Warren, Skyla and Kyle) - as well as son-in-law Nigel and daughters-in-law Sue and Tracey.

Peter worked at Cowley in Oxford and then went to the chocolate factory in Banbury until he retired.

Janet was a seamstress for many years before she worked at Morrisons.

They moved from Fiennes Road to the home they are in now.
