Grant award for Chipping Norton home nursing team

Lawrence Home Nursing has been awarded a £1,000 grant to support its vital work to support caring for people at home at the end of their lives.

Based in Chipping Norton, Lawrence Home Nursing Team have supported more than 560 patients to live out their final days at home by giving end of life nursing care across Oxfordshire, free of charge. The donation will help the Home Nursing Team to continue their important work as their costs increase.

Jane Evans from the Lawrence Home Nursing Team said: "Caring for someone in their final days is a privilege. I try to do everything I can to make each person and their family comfortable. It's about gaining peoples' trust, creating a calm atmosphere and putting people at their ease.

“Ensuring there is good pain relief is also essential. Helping them have a wash or bringing them tea in their favourite cup is also part of the care offered. Families often tell me that just knowing there's someone to call them if there's a change in the condition of their loved one makes a huge difference to them too."

“This support will help more people fulfil their end of life wishes by remaining in their own homes, close to their loved ones.”
