A Gaydon man battling cancer had his head shaved last weekend as part of a 'Brave the Shave' fundraising challenge to help the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

Friends and family gathered in front of the Malt Shovel pub in Gaydon on Saturday afternoon (September 5) during the village community market for the 'Brave the Shave' event.

Mark Charnock said: "I am in the last week of a month of Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer. The staff at the hospital have been tremendous.

"The Macmillan Support staff have been there from the original consultation and through the whole process giving advice and support not just on the medical process, but offering advice about diet, strategies to help during my treatment. All with great compassion and humour.

"That is why I decided to 'Brave the Shave' to help ensure that this vital support is available to all who need it. It's just giving back."

Mark started fundraising around three weeks ago setting a £300 target. Anyone who would like to contribute to Mark's 'Brave the Shave' fundraising challenge can use the following web link: https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/mark-charnock
