The students have created their own version of Horrible Romans and they travelled to Coombe Abbey Hotel to use the historic venue as a location in the film and help set the scene.

As part of the project, young people from the Griffiths Centre, which is based at the school, took on a number of roles including acting and storyboarding with the help of staff.

Dean Cooke, senior teacher at Frank Wise School, said: “This is something that we do every year and it is a great way for the students to learn a whole range of new skills.

“They did everything from acting to storyboarding and videoing as well, so along with it being fun, it is very much a learning experience.

“We did Horrible Romans this year and went along to Roman Villa in Wroxeter, but we needed another location and we have got staff who had been to Coombe Abbey and they thought it would be perfect for what we needed and it definitely was.

“We could not have been treated better, everyone at Coombe was absolutely fantastic and would just like to say thank you to them.”

A special screening of the film, complete with a red carpet, will now go ahead for staff, students and parents to enjoy.

Dean added: “The children love the celebration event, we are given a red carpet and everyone can dress up and is treated like a star, just to make it that extra bit special for everyone.

“From the initial contact and throughout the day of filming all the staff at Coombe Abbey were amazing. The level of thought and organisation that went into hosting us really made the students feel like superstars.

“On behalf of the students and Frank Wise School, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to all of the hotel staff for creating such a memorable experience.”
